Elected by statewide election in 2000 to the North Carolina Court of Appeals, Tyson authored more than 800 majority opinions and decided over 2,500 appeals during his eight-year term on North Carolina’s second highest court. Tyson reviewed and ruled on civil, criminal and administrative cases from Superior Courts throughout North Carolina.
Tyson currently serves as a Recall Judge on the North Carolina Court of Appeals and as an Emergency Superior Court Judge. Tyson also serves as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Campbell University’s School of Law, where he has taught since 1987.
